Other summer fun!

This is going to be the post that talks about everything else I have pictures of from the summer.
I planted strawberries, and trees, 21 trees to be exact and they all DIED! This summer was just way to hot for stuff to survive out here, we got no rain at all :-(.
Aleric and his Grandpa (my dad) built a pirate ship!
We went to the Colorado State Fair Parade! And the State fair but I have no pictures of that.
Chris and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary! Chris is the most amazing husband and father I could ever ask for. He gives me everything I want and supports me in everything I do. I am so very lucky to have him. His parents and Grandmother bought us our first grown up grill :-) up until now we have been using a $30 one from Walmart, this grill is awesome, it has both gas and charcoal.
 Cooking wings and hamburgers:
And Chris and I also canned 20 pints of organic peaches :-)
I also got rid of some birds, well we put the 2 roosters and 3 drake ducks in the freezer and I gave away the 2 female ducks. We did go to Breckenridge again this year to watch the Warrior Dash, I was not able to run it, but we already had paid for our hotel room so we went and spent the night up there and took a little 1 night vacation. I really do hope to run it again next year though! I have been doing some other crafting, some is for Christmas gifts though so I cant show pictures of it. I still feel like I have lots to do, and not enough time to do it all in. But that's life. I have also learned to make my own coffee creamer so I can once again enjoy my coffee nice and chemical free :-)! I might do a post on that in the near future now that I am back up to date on here I will try to post more regularly.

Life

Why does life always seem to get in the way of well life? I have been collecting blog subjects for over a week now but yet I just never have had the time to sit down and write the damn posts. Last Sunday I was going to blog about my first experience cooking snake. Well it failed horribly so I then had to remake dinner with something that was actually edible, so hopefully when I try again this week it will come out right and I will be able to write about that. I also got a new shotgun for my birthday so I was going to write about it. Almost 2 weeks later I finally shot it today for the first time. We had a hail storm that killed our garden that we worked so hard on every single day. Then a few days later we found a rabbit in our garden burrowing under our dead cucumbers. All that is left in our garden right now is beans, onions, and we are really hoping that the pumpkins, tomatoes and strawberries come back. Our little aspen trees took a beating also but I think they will survive. (Picture below is what is left of my beans)

Our Jeep has been in the shop again getting the last few things fixed so we were down to 1 car that fits the car seat. And now the trailer lights still don't work so we have to pay for a load of water tomorrow while we wait for that problem to get fixed. But one thing did go as planned in the last week, on Saturday we went to FIBArk in Salida. Aleric got to see the parade and he loved it!

Every time the horses (or donkeys or mules) would come by he would get all excited and point and say "tsss" Its so cute. He finally got to meet some real horses on Friday night at a friends house, she has horses and we took him over there, he was so excited first he tried to crawl through the fence to get them, then when that didn't work he kept trying to go over the fence to get to them. He was not scared at all of them like he was the cows that he met over at Larga Vista Ranch.

First post, where to start?

Ok so this is my first post, I don't know where to start so this first post will be about me. First and most importantly I am Wife of Chris, without him I wouldn't be Mommy to Aleric. My husband and my son are number 1 in my life, followed by close family, and then my animals. I am not sure what direction this blog will take, it will probably just be a random topic when I post, and I hope to post a few times a week. Things that are very important to me are family, animals, attachment parenting, primal living, fitness and health, breastfeeding, natural living, long hair, wow so many more topics I cant even begin to think of where to start.

So to start this off I will make the rest of this post about my garden. This year will be the first year that I am trying to grow anything. Last year we got some half dead pine trees that we brought home and planted at like 3 am, well needless to say they died. I don't think we watered them enough, but out here we need trees so this year we pulled out the dead pine trees and planted some pretty new little trees.

This year for food we have planted strawberries, tomatoes, beets, carrots, green and purple beans, radishes, onions, about 8 types of peppers from sweet to very hot, blue pumpkins, cucumbers, broccoli, cabbage and brussel sprouts. Now if I can just get half of this to grow I will be amazingly happy with myself, if it all grows, well I'm going to be very busy canning at the end of the summer! Well regardless of if it grows or not I will be very busy canning at the end of the year with all of the local farm stands out here in the county.
